Product Description This beautifully written, heartfelt memoir touched a nerve among both readers and reviewers. Elizabeth Gilbert tells how she made the difficult choice to leave behind all the trappings of modern American success (marriage, house in the country, career) and find, instead, what she truly wanted from life. Setting out for a year to study three different aspects of her nature amid three different cultures, Gilbert explored the art of pleasure in Italy and the art of devotion in India, and then a balance between the two on the Indonesian island of Bali. By turns rapturous and rueful, this wise and funny author (whom Booklist calls -Anne Lamott-s hip, yoga- practicing, footloose younger sister-) is poised to garner yet more adoring fans.

great book September 6, 2010 tima 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As far as books are concerned, this is a great book! I loved it from beginning till the end.
so romance novelish! September 5, 2010 Andrea Mauer (Southern MN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I too could not stomach finishing this book. The maudlin style reminded me of a similar over-rated piece "The Bridges of Madison County". If that was your thing, go ahead...It is not mine! A ridiculous "romp" through foreign countries with a "money is no object" theme. "Oh,which man shall choose?" The book 'Tales of Female Nomad' by Rita Gelman is a much better written book with a realistic eye about money and romance. I so do not recommmend this book unless you are a shallow, insecure person.
Reliable Site September 5, 2010 Lila Ansley (Cleveland, OH) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book arrived at the time promised and was in good condition. After reading this book, I would not recommend it because of how slowly it reads. However, the site I purchased the book from was very reliable and I would deal with them again.

Fast reading, delightfully different subject. Enjoyable and recommendable. Informative. Get your copy now, and see the movie.
Good book September 5, 2010 Elemaga (Florida, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book was very good in general, some parts better than others though.
But I encountered the same problem as with other audio books. Some of the CDs were corrupted and I had to return the product.
